Nearly two months since the last post?! Tut tut.

Things have been pretty busy with work though. The boss has taken a step back and myself and Gav are taking on more and more of the directing. Which I'm enjoying, but I'm on the look out for things all the time I've noticed.

I can't just switch off...

Anyways, Gibbs (my best friend in the Navy) thinks she'll be allowed to sell tickets to her chums for the Summer Ball. She best had, as I've eyed up these gowns from the Resort 2011 collection.

And so the gardening commences...

...poorly! My window boxes this year aren't doing as well as last, even though I've fed them. May chuck some wild flower seeds on there again.

However, the lilly bulbs my dad gave me over winter are coming up!! Will have to keep a check on the knotweed that's threatening to take over on the right hand side. Hmmmm.

April springyness

My updating is become almost a monthly happening. How slack of me!?

Well, the daffs and the grape hyacinths are truly over and the blossoms are out in the trees instead (marks the start of my hayfever :o/ ) but since I last wrote I have fallen in love with the Royal Navy. Based on the masquerade ball I was invited to by my bestest chum.

Also, the Naval College in Dartmouth is just beautiful. You can't help but think you're in a slightly updated version of Hornblower with all the officers around you too!!

I'm very much looking forward to visiting my mate there again, it has a special place in my heart now, and I won't be as unwell as I was that night. How typical to get a stinking cold the day before!

I have also uncovered an amazing pub up the road from us here in Wimmers. It's called the Sultan and its a proper old fashioned pub. Serves lovely Ales, its cheap on a Wednesday and theres darts and cards to be played as well as being roasted by a fire.

And the boyfriend has finally moved to London. Only 4 years to get here!

Springtime in Wimbledon

I was meant to post these a week or so ago, but have had a lot of work on (which is brill!) I am amazed they came up as the bulbs were from a pound shop and the fact they're mixed!

Even more fantastic.

Spring nearly sprung

The daffodils haven't opened yet in the garden, but I'm hoping this weeks mild weather might coax them out. Still, inside the house it's looking very spring like.

Stands

I just stumbled across this on www.ffffound.com. I love the Stands. They're one of my all time fave bands, and I have the top sticker on my old bass guitar!! You forget sometimes how brilliant simplicity can be in artwork.

Clash of the Titans

As you may well be aware they've remade Clash of the Titans. I am highly sceptical of it already. The original was brill.

Also, how are the special effects going to be as good as my hero's Ray Harryhausen?! I remember being terrified watching Talos come to life in Jason and the Argonauts, and equally by Medusa in Clash of the Titans. There's something a bit more life-like with stop frame animation that CGI just doesn't capture. I might be proved wrong with the new film being shown in 3D. I just hope they don't touch Jason and the Argonauts. Surely someone must be able to come up with new film ideas these days?! :o)

Well!..

Gosh, it's been a while since a post. I'll put it down to finishing off the mens aw11/12 book and feeling uninspired by the end of it!

I'm still on the hunt for a ball gown. I'm hoping a research trip into London tomorrow might throw up a treasure for me.

Since I last wrote, Peds and I and his brother Dorian, went down to Bristol at the end of February for my friend Amy's birthday which we celebrated by going to a WW2 dance at the Tunnels. My god it was amazing! Everyone went to town on the outfits, and men DO look more handsome in uniform. They should be made to wear 1940s era clothing all the time.

As well as some pics from then, here's my latest train of thought illustration wise. Silly sausages.

Naval Ball!

Well, my best friend has invited me to a Vienna Ball, at the Royal Britannia Naval College in Dartmouth. The dress code is floor length-5 inches off the floor and shoulders covered at dinner.

As you can imagine, the prospect of having to purchase a ball gown has filled me with glee!

However, the stuff available on the high street is awful! :o(

The only thing that has caught my eye is this dress from John Lewis. It instantly reminded me of the gold Lame dress Marilyn Monroe wore in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'.

Gothenburg birthdayness

A few pics from my weekend in Gothenburg! Opposite the hotel was a lovely secondhand shop where I brought not the gorgeous green hat, but a grey wooley one for 50p! We spent a lot of time playing cards in a little cute cafe called 'Le petit café' as it was sooo cold out! :o)

I need a 1940s dress!

I'm off to a 'blackout dance' at the tunnels in Bristol at hte end of this month for a good friends birthday, so mission for a dress this month is to find a 1940s one.

Why didn't I think of this whilst in Gothenburg this weekend?!

...Asos are selling this Ted Baker silk dress at £98 from £137. So far its in the running. I need to spend a couple of evenings on ebay I think!....

Hampstead Heath

I've been in London 3 years now and finally went for a walk around Hampstead Heath for the first time yesterday!! Was very novel seeing the skyline back to front from what I'm used to seeing down south :o)

Christmas is getting closer!

Got the tree on Saturday! And I'm very pleased with it seeing as the baubles only cost £5 and I whipped up an angel in the form of a bunny I made ages ago :o)

Tonight, my housemates and I are having a Christmas craft evening around the tree, so I'll put up further pics tomorrow of our efforts.

I've been sighing over this for ages.

Beautiful Brighton dress

I spent this Sunday in Brighton catching up with my boyfriends brothers and one of their girlfriends and an old chum! Wonderful fun! We also had the most delicious Sunday Roast at the Yeoman, which is very close to the station.
Any how, Brighton is currently holding an Open House thing (which I'll put the link up to when I find the leaflet!) where artists/crafts folk exhibit in their homes. We went along to Poppys, and her housemate runs a boutique, http://www.yamama.co.uk/ and they had a rail of gorgeous dresses in the living room.
Naturally I was drawn to this as soon as I walked in, and after a glass of red wine I thought I'll just try that dress on, and what would you know it fitted like a glove, plus it was half price off and a size 10 to boot. (even better!) I came home very smug with myself!
